Betting should be entertainment you can afford. The moment it stops being that, stop and get help. It is free, confidential and available any time.

Michigan resources
- Michigan Gaming Control Board, responsible gaming: the MGCB runs responsible gaming programs and education for Michigan bettors. Visit michigan.gov/mgcb and look for Responsible Gaming.
- Disassociated Persons List: Michigan lets you voluntarily ban yourself from Michigan's licensed online sportsbooks and online casinos, and a separate list covers Detroit's commercial casinos. Enrollment is handled through the Michigan Gaming Control Board. Once enrolled, licensed operators must refuse your bets and account access for the period you choose.
- Michigan Problem Gambling Helpline: 1-800-270-7117 for referrals to treatment and counseling in Michigan.
Signs of a problem
Ask yourself honestly:
- Do you bet more than you planned, or more often than you planned?
- Do you chase losses by betting bigger to win them back?
- Do you borrow money, use bill money or sell things to bet?
- Do you hide your betting from family or friends?
- Do you feel restless or irritable when you try to cut back?
- Is betting affecting your sleep, your work or your relationships?
- Do you bet to escape stress or bad feelings?
If any of these sound familiar, it is worth a call. You do not need to hit bottom to ask for help.
Setting limits
Every licensed sportsbook in Michigan, including DraftKings, FanDuel and theScore Bet, offers tools you can turn on in your account settings:
- Deposit limits by day, week or month
- Wager limits on how much you can bet in a period
- Time limits and session reminders
- Cool-off periods that pause your account for a short time
Set these when you are calm, not in the middle of a bad day. Make the limit something you would not notice losing.
Some habits that help:
- Decide your bankroll before the season. Never add to it to cover losses.
- Bet in small, flat units. Our bankroll lesson covers this.
- Never bet with money meant for rent, bills or debt.
- Do not bet when drinking, angry or upset.
- Take days off.
Self-exclusion at sportsbooks
Beyond Michigan's Disassociated Persons List, each sportsbook lets you self-exclude directly, usually from the responsible gaming section of your account. Self-exclusion closes or suspends your account for a set period or permanently. Contact each book's customer support if you cannot find the option.
You can also install blocking software on your phone and computer to stop access to gambling sites.
Our part
- Everything on this site is for people 21 and older.
- We report results in units, not dollars, and we post every loss.
- We will never oversell a pick, and we will never pressure you to bet.
- Picks are opinions. You never have to act on them.
If you or someone you care about is struggling, call 1-800-GAMBLER or, in Michigan, 1-800-270-7117.
